Why ACAA?

Australia is a multicultural diverse society which is built upon the strengths of its social capital and stands out as a positive model for the rest of the world. Australian community continues to become more culturally diverse, patterns of works, family and social life are all changing; and technology is allowing us to link up in new ways.

Over many years Azerbaijani people from different parts of the world have experienced different kind of problems associated with their language, ethnic, geographical and cultural identity  as  well  as  their  history.  Nevertheless  the  people  of  the  land  of  Azerbaijan historically developed and acknowledged common cultural values and traditions which they feel strongly affiliated with and are very sensitively aware of.

In fact, Australia has become a home for many of us which provides the unique opportunity to develop and promote better understanding of our cultural values and community needs. In the face of rapidly growing changes in our modern life it remains vital that Azerbaijani people have good and positive understanding of their cultural identity as well as feel a sense of belonging to take pride in Australian mainstream community which they are well adjusted to and feel determined to integrate with to be an active part of this well balance harmonious society.

Alim Qasimov performing euworvisionSince early settlement Azerbaijani people in Australia have been experiencing the genuine commitment to have their own community-based and community-managed non-for-profit organisation. They believe this organisation could enable to address issues of community concerns and by meeting cultural needs make our life more meaningful.

Recognition and promotion of Azerbaijani language, literature, music, arts and history as a part of the world history will enrich our community life. We will be able to facilitate and maintain culturally sensitive and inclusive community services and events which are currently of great demand in our community.
